Amazing Yorkshire Dales Marquee Wedding

On a damp August morning I headed to a wedding I have been excited about since I first met Katie and Dom over a year before. Anytime a couple mention they are having a DIY marquee wedding set in the Yorkshire Dales I know it is going to be amazing. From the moment I met the couple they were so nice and had known each other for a long time. I got a real sense that the wedding was going to be stunning. I love hearing the stories of how people met and hearing about their relationships and I was so glad when they decided to book me.

On the wedding day Katie had her hair and make up done in a rented cottage just down from Dom who was in his parents cottage in the lovely area of Kettlewell. The marquee was rented but completely decorated in a DIY style and looked amazing. The time and effort everyone put in to the wedding really showed and the sun even came out to celebrate. The marquee was in a field owned by Dom’s parents at the back of their cottage and had a bar, sofa area and seating for over 100 guests.

Dom surprised Katie with a Morgan car to take her and her dad to the ceremony. She arrived in style at The Priests House, Barden Tower, a gorgeous venue in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. The ceremony and canapés where enjoyed in the glorious sun with the Dales as a backdrop before Dom and Katie headed back to the marquee with all the guests waving them off. The Priests House is a gorgeous venue and the staff were brilliant. This is somewhere I definitely can’t wait to shoot at again.

The speeches where amongst the best I have heard with Katie’s dad showing everyone how to eat a whole Magnum lolly in one! Each table had a disposable camera on with a list of photos to get, ie a picture of everyone on the table, which I thought was a great touch. The cake was made by a friend but was unbelievable and fitted perfectly in the marquee theme.

The Revs band put on a great show as always and played some amazing songs which had the couple up on the guests shoulders and everyone was dancing hard long into the night. We had a conga line and I swear there was no room on the dance floor as everybody was up dancing.

Katie and Dom, thanks so much for having me along it was a pleasure and you were both so great to work with. I wish you all the best for the future and beyond. You guys rock!
